Please which East African country accounts for majority of the region’s GDP and population?
Also how and why is this so ?

I would say  Kenya followed byTanzania. Both countries have invested heavily in areas like agriculture.

Hello Tracy. Kenya is the richest country in East Africa. If you check all of the countries in East Africa, Kenya has the highest GDP, is  the most economically stable, and has the least inflation rate. As of 2015 estimates, Kenya had a GDP of $69.977 making it the 72nd largest economy in the world. Per capita GDP was estimated at $1,587.
The agricultural sector still dominates Kenya's economy, although only 15 percent of Kenya's total land area has sufficient fertility and rainfall to be farmed. This also explains why Kenya's chief exports are horticultural products and tea.
They harness agricultural  opportunities in the region very well.
